CodeChix -> Thrive-WiSE Journey

My stance on male allies is something that has been challenged vociferously by many women and women-centric organizations as well as some men. I am known for firing council and board members who don’t agree with me on this approach. As of 2020/2021 and the changes spearheaded by BLM (mainly), I haven’t had to argue as much to support my approach which is, finally, a bit of a relief.

I, very firmly, believe that we can only solve the problems that we are trying to solve if and only if, we include the help, cooperation and support of our male allies. That said, most men have no idea what allyship means. Most women don’t either. It is why I created the Ally Training for Engineers and PM’s to address this huge disconnect. This education and actual incorporation of the practices and skills is the first step to beginning to address the extremely contentious workplace environment issues.

Since 2015, I’ve created and directed DevPulseCon - see additional info here. I invented the concept of the Safe Space program which I piloted with great results in 2020 at a Fortune 100 company in the Silicon Valley Bay area and have a patent pending on this effort.
